Release 1.0 of the SANtool currently provides full functionality when inserted into a Windows-based operating system.  The host computer utilizes TCP/IP over IANA-assigned port # 4079 to establish a secure SSL (https) link with the embedded web server on the USB stick.  The GUI interface is supplied via a web browser running on a local or remote system.

Embedded web server

The same executable supports x86 and x64-based Windows XP, 2003, and Vista for host operating system.  (Native executables for other operating systems will be added as resources permit).

Web Browsers

IE7+, Firefox 3.0+, Google Chrome.  (Safari has no known issues, but is not formally tested for compatibility).
Javascript must be enabled.
The software does not require Java, nor does it use or require any additional plug-ins.
All communication is over SSL (https).
Both a factory generated SSL certificate and the executables necessary to create your own certificate are included.

Command-line interface (SMARTMon-UX)

Each SANtool is licensed for Windows (XP,2003,2008,Vista) on X86/X64 platforms, plus at least one more operating system:

X86, X64, IA64 LINUX
HP/UX (IA64)
SPARC, X86 Solaris
IA64 Windows 2003
In order to use the command-line in local mode (as opposed to remote agent mode), the SANtool must be plugged into a host running the appropriate operating system, and run as a standard command-line program.

Remote Agent

A natively compiled embedded web server suitable for running as a service/background daemon on all major operating systems is under development.  This will be the mechanism for securely running diagnostics on remote systems over a secure (SSL) connection.

Remote Command Support

Host O/S must currently be Windows, but the remote system can be any UNIX/LINUX operating system with telnet enabled.  The user is required to enter appropriate remote host O/S and username/password information, which will be securely saved on the SANtool.

Any command(s), or scripts can be run, but output should be limited to less than 1 MB, and commands must be constructed so they are not interactive in nature.  The Remote Agent is not required.
